Description
An attractive ebonised, Regency period chamfer-top Bracket / Table clock circa 1820.
The Regency, ebonised case, with its stepped and chamfered top has a large cast brass pineapple finial, stands 500mm high, 295mm wide, and 170mm deep. The case front has quartered, and recessed panels framed with gilded quadrant. The front canted edges are also gilded. The sides of the case have acanthus and ring carrying handles which are mounted above rectangular sound apertures with salmon coloured cloth-backed, brass fish scale frets. The plain back has a full-size glazed and locking door and the case is mounted upon 4 cast brass ball feet. Behind the flat glass mounted locking brass bezel is an 8" (200mm) diameter cream painted dial with an outer divided minute track and inner Roman numerals indicating the hours, with matching moon design hands.
The 8 day, 5 pillar, double fusee movement with Anchor escapement, striking the hours on a bell, with a transit locking micrometer regulation pendulum, has just been fully stripped, overhauled and rebuilt by us.
