I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a shop in Wallingford (OX100BU) between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
Copper engraving, hand coloured, map of "Midlesex" by Robert Morden (1650-1703). Note that London at this period is still just the City of London, with Westminster and other areas of modern central London shown as separate villages.
Morden was a British bookseller, publisher, and maker of maps and globes. He contributed maps to William Camden's "Britannia", one of the best known 17th/18th century atlases. There were four editions of Britannia, the first being in 1695, with engravings done by Sutton Nicholls. Morden was known for his simplification in presentation, concentrating on clarity of detail over decoration.
