Description
Offered for sale is a "The Monk" figure. Part of the collection of Rye Pottery's hand-painted figures based on the pilgrims from Chaucer's renowned Canterbury Tales. "The Monk was therefore a good man to horse: Greyhounds he had, as swift as birds, to course. His prominent eyeballs never seemed to settle. They glittered like the flames beneath a kettle: Supple his boots, his horse in fine condition. He was a prelate fit for exhibition." The Monk was the first wealthy religious figure added to the Rye Pottery, Canterbury Tales Pilgrims collection. His wealth is demonstrated by his well caparisoned horse. The driving design influences for this collection are Neville Coghill’s translation of Chaucer's original text and the few illustrations of the Pilgrims shown in the Ellesmere Manuscript. The perfect gift for Chaucer fans or medieval literature buffs alike. Their timeless quality allows them to fit into any interior style. Unless otherwise stated on item description Free delivery included to UK Mainland & Ni. Eu Delivery £20. USA & Worldwide Delivery £35.
