This is a very scarce British Military East India Company Cavalry Officer's Flintlock Pistol dating from the time of the Napoleonic Wars. Walnut stock faintly stamped with the Government heart shape Veic (United East India Company) mark near lock, rounded typical brass military skull-crusher butt-cap, matching brass military style trigger-guard and brass mounted ramrod. The lock faintly marked with the makers name Thomson, date 1802 and heart shape Veic mark with 4 above. The barrel is similarly marked with Veic heart, maker's name Thomson and 1802 date, together with two proof marks.
This type of heavy calibre flintlock pistol were carried by British and Colonial Cavalry officers during the era of the Napoleonic campaigns of the late 18th-early 19th century. These pistols were well regarded as being very reliable by serving British officers at the time.
This is in good original condition and in full working order. A great piece of history.
Nb. This is an obsolete calibre pistol and is therefore classed by the Home Office as a collector's item. There is no necessity to own a firearms license to sell or own this piece.

The pistol cocks and holds in both positions and fires with a strong action. It has general wear throughout commensurate with age and use. There is a small crack to the walnut near the lock. It has a good colour and patina to the walnut.
