Description
Rare Scottish hickory golf club Sunday walking stick or cane. Know as such as you weren't allowed to play games on a Sunday in those times so the canes were made to disguise the purpose they were used for and as a sign of protest. Early long nose wood head made from persimmon wood with a lead weighted to the rear. The head is attached to a hickory shaft with a whipping band and original brass ferrule. The persimmon head is stamped "I. Alisa 9th April 1897". This refers to The Ailsa Golf course in Scotland. Originally named after the Third Marquess of Ailsa who owned the land. Construction of the course started in 1890 and opened for play in 1902. The course is now owned by Donald Trump and is know as Turnberry. Lovely quality and well made. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
