Description
This is a small antique ladies correspondence table. An English, flame mahogany writing table, dating to the William IV period, circa 1835.
Fine suite of functions and storage across an appealing, compact form that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select flame stocks present delightful grain interest throughout. Deep russet and caramel hues dance beneath a wax polish finish.
Arrangement of three drawers to the fascia, each configured to individual requirements. Upper drawer boasts a leather skiver set upon a hinged slope, with storage space beneath. Middle drawer outfitted with pen trays to each side, framing central storage. The lowest drawer of full width form, ideal for larger papers or notebooks.
Each drawer dressed with pairs of small brass circular pulls. Matched inset locks across all three fascia — in working order, key present. Gently tapering support column of stout proportion with collared mount. Eye-catching hyperboloid base hosts a quartet of scrolled and gadrooned toes.
This is an appealing antique ladies correspondence table, the compact nature well appointed for storage with useful drawer configurations. Ideal for a nook or central room placement. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
