Description
This is a wonderful George III oak chest from the turn of the 19th century, this has 2 small over 4 large graduated drawers and has a good colour and patina.
– A traditional Georgian piece of furniture, with dove tailed joints in the drawer sides.
– Plenty of storage space in a tall chest.
– Brass drawer pulls.
– Oak carcass with pine drawer boxes.
– Shaped bracket feet.
– Planked back covered with 1930s newspapers.
A true antique, this continues to be a good functional storage piece over 200 years after it was first made and provides plenty of drawer space for any bedroom.
Wear is consistent with age and use. There is a small hole in the back planking at the top right corner, which is not seen when the piece is against a wall. The top right drawer has a small section missing from the top of the side at the front, which does not affect function. No key is available, but lock plates are present. There are minor signs of old woodworm in the base of one of the drawers. The chest is sturdy and functional.
Date: Circa 1800
