Originally from a large country school in Northumberland, we have a splendid early 20th Century English oak glazed 2 door bookcase C.1915 one of an exact pair we currently have in our collection.- please see the other listing. Just over 6ft tall in old money these are rather handsome pieces and of great scale and stature. The patterned oak framed doors open to reveal two flights of 6 adjustable solid oak shelves to each side - 12 in all. The cabinet sits in lovely aged order with the odd mark or two but nothing fresh or off putting. Backs are original with no damp. We have a deep oak plinth, original glass and the handles are a historic replacement, doors close well, no key, and all in all a weighty piece. A classic library school bookcase cabinet - certainly becoming harder to find of this era and in this quality. Perfect for books or a collector.
