This is an extremely rare Thomas Chippendale violin bookcase (copy) which comes in 4 pieces for ease of transportation & lifting, all goes together great.
It is called the violin bookcase due to the carving on the centre of the door, the original was made in 1763 for the earl of Pembroke, the original bookcase is known as the dream furniture.
fret work either side & lovely carving & finials, beneath is large carved centre door & 1 door either side all with old glass & ebonized beading to fronts, open doors either side of centre to reveal 4 slide out adjustable shelves, centre has 5 slide out adjustable shelves all shelves also have ebonized fronts.
Bottom section has 2 end cupboard inlaid doors 1 either end open each cupboard to reveal 1 removable shelf also has large secret compartment once you take shelves out sides pop off, centre has concave seating desk area with large drawer & writing slope that slides out.
