Description
A large and imposing mid 19th Century English Victorian antique white and gilt titled Staffordshire Pottery portrait figure of "Admiral Sir Charles Napier" ~ P C104 ~ H 213, Commander of the Baltic Fleet during the Crimean War. Standing, his right hand holding a cocked hat, his left arm by his side holding a cape, a sword at his side, wearing a tunic with epaulettes and trousers, a sash across his chest and waist. Catalogued as Fig. 104 and illustrated in Plate 42 ~ Section C of Pugh's classic work "Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Era", and as Fig. 213 in Book I of Harding's "Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835 - 1875".
