Description
A fine and rare mid 19th century antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery portrait figure of the opera singer "Jenny Lind", popularly known as The Swedish Nightingale, in her role as Marie in Act 1 of Donizetti's two act opera, "La Fille du régiment", { The Daughter of the Regiment } ~ P E164 ~ H 1301.
Catalogued by Pugh as an "Alpha" factory piece, beautifully modelled in the round with superb original colouring, the shaped base with gilt upper case impressed title, viz. "M. Lind", she stands in a low-crowned, broad-brimmed hat with her right hand raised to it's brim, bodice with epaulettes, and wide ankle-length skirt.
