Description
This is a well coloured example of this scarce mid 19th Century English Victorian antique Staffordshire Pottery Group portrait figure, "John Anderson, My Jo" ~ P H65 ~ H 973P, depicting the Town Piper of Kelso, a close friend of Robert Burns, together with his Wife, he celebrated by Burns in the eponymous poem of that name. Seated in high-backed chairs on a titled arched base with gilt script, he wears a jacket, waistcoat, and breeches, his hands resting upon a cane; she with her left hand upon his shoulder, wears a blouse and skirt, while her left foot rests upon a cushion.
