Description
The watch has a 17-jewel bumper automatic movement which is working nicely. This is the calibre 28.10 Ra Sc Pc (the letters stand for automatic, centre seconds, shockproofing). The movement is signed with the Omega name, and it has the serial number 10,450,442 which dates it back to 1944.
Early automatic movements such as this one relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.
The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the signed Omega winding crown and the lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition, just a couple of scratches to the back where a case opening tool has slipped in the past. The inside of the screw on case back has the Omega triangular stamp and the case reference 2438-3 which is correct for the 28.10 movement.
The lens is in lovely condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands and centre seconds sweep. The luminous infill has been removed from the hands, and also from the numbers, at some stage.
A later leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
