The watch was manufactured one year before Omega brought out the Seamaster model, Omega’s longest running watch model. This particular watch has the same movement calibre and case as the Seamaster, just one year later and it would have been signed Seamaster on the dial.
The watch has a 17-jewel calibre 351 bumper automatic movement which is working nicely.
Early automatic movements such as this one relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ backwards and forwards between two springs to maintain the power within the movement. Later automatic watches have the fully rotational rotor.
The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 11,674,952 which dates it back to 1947.
The watch is the larger size at 36mm diameter excluding the winding crown and lugs. The case is stainless steel. It has a 2cm scratch across the back but other than that, it is in good condition with just minor marking. The inside of the screw-on case back has the Omega logo, and the case reference 2494-1 which is correct for the calibre 351.
The lens is in lovely condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish with original dauphine shaped hands and centre seconds hand. There is some even age related patination across the dial.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a Vat registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
