The watch has a stem-winding movement, believed to be by Kurth Frères of Grenchen, Switzerland, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 35mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is 925 silver and there are hallmarks for Glasgow 1915 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.
There is also a mark of Fw, sometimes seen alongside the Stockwell mark. The reason for this second sponsor’s mark is not known.
The case is in good condition, just some fairly gentle unevenness to the hinged back and general light surface marks.
The glass lens is in good condition.
The dial has a couple of hairline cracks.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.

Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.
