George Hardy was born in 1822 in Windsor, England. He painted mainly genre subjects, particularly cottage interiors and exhibited 41 works at the Royal Academy (RA), 4 at the the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street (SS) and 4 at the British Institution (BI) between 1846 and 1892. He was the brother of Frederick Daniel Hardy (1826-1911) who painted similar subjects. George Hardy died at Cranbrook in Kent in 1909.
