The firm of Thomas Mercer Chronometers was founded in 1858 by Thomas, but he had a strong family background in both watch making and sailing. The company began in London before moving to St Albans and remained a staunch advocate for the horological industry in the UK. Although they also supplied unbranded Chronometers for their clients to label up, TMC earned many notable clients including the Military, Greenwich Observatory and Ernest Shackleton.
By the 1980s TCM had reputedly made nearly a third of all chronometers ever produced. At LoveAntiques we have a fine selection of Antique and Vintage chronometers by Thomas Mercer all from trusted sellers.
