Antique French Large Hardwood Bureau Desk

Large antique French bureau writing desk made around 1910 in a light coloured hard wood. Panelled flap lowers onto a central pull out support, to reveal a nicely fitted interior with central pigeonholes flanked by banks of small drawers. Each side has a locking drawer and key. The flap has an inset leather skiver for writing on (a manual task apparently carried out in the past for communication purposes..). The flap itself at first looks like an old door, especially with its sideways keyhole. But the internal drawer keyholes are the same so it's definitely original. Two chains have been added later for extra support. Below are two long drawers with recessed dark wood handles. Little bun feet at the base. The top, fitted interior and base all separate from each other, which is handy as it's a very heavy piece.
