Description
On offer is this fine antique French egg form box with suspensory chain and ring so that it could be hung from a chain or chatelaine. This little egg box dates to the late 19th Century.
This antique trinket box measures approx 6.5cm in length and the chain and ring add a further 7cm to the overall length and the gilt metal tassel hangs 2.5cm.
The ovoid box is made of beautiful and rare pink, semi translucent opaline glass and has a pierced star design gilt metal mount to the top from which the chain is attached. The box has gilt metal rims, hinge and catch as well as gilt metal hanging decoration at the sides and from the base. The pink glass has raised enamel floral decoration to the front.
This antique glass box has no chips, cracks or fractures and the metal retains a good gilt finish. The only "flaw" I can see is that when closed there is a slight gap between the top and bottom which can be seen in the images. Thank you for your interest.
