Antique French Solid Silver Salt Cellar Pair - Louis Coignet c.1890

We are delighted to offer this charming pair of French solid silver salt cellars made in Paris c.1890 by Louis Coignet. The pair feature a hollow oval form with glass liners and matching salt spoons. The exterior is beautifully adorned with a beaded border, a boiserie-style frame and an anthemion accent in the centre. The manner in which the proportion and detail have been formed very accurately as if it is just a scaled-down version of a lifesize pail makes it an immediately eye-catching piece of curiosity whether as part of a collection or sitting on a dining table. The inner sides of the silver are silver gilt which is eye-catching and serves as a nice contrast to the silver exterior. The matching pair of spoons also features a lovely anthemion design and complete the overall aesthetics of the set. A wonderful pair that can still be used practically today with salt, pepper, condiments etc and would most certainly grace a beautiful dining table.
