This is an antique sarcophagus tea caddy. An English, rosewood case with glass mixer, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. Appealing craftsmanship with a striking decorative appearance. It displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select stocks present fine grain interest. Light caramel hues beam beneath a wax polish finish. Distinctive sarcophagus top with decorative satinwood stringing. Dressed to the fascia with a diamond shaped escutcheon — key absent.
