Description
A magnificent, fine and impressive, large antique Victorian English sterling silver four light candelabrum centrepiece; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection.
This magnificent antique English sterling silver four light candelabrum has a cylindrical tapering, shaped form, with palm influence.
This antique silver centrepiece candelabrum retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit arms.
The sterling silver scrolling arms are ornamented with embossed layered leaf designs and accented with naturalistic decoration.
The circular baluster-shaped capitals are ornamented with layered leaf decoration to the lower portions and flared, shaped rims.
Each capital surmounts a circular shaped drip pan, incorporating further leaf decoration, as that to the capital rim.
The central screw fit boss is surmounted with an impressive pierced decorated dish.
The shaped rim of the receptacle is encompassed with cast and applied fruiting vine ornamentation.
This 19th century silver candelabrum can be used as an imposing candlestick once the push fit arms (labra) and screw fit dish are detached.
The cylindrical tapering column is embellished with impressive palm textures, with a large foliated splay to the upper portion.
The column surmounts an impressive swept triform base, incorporating a leaf decorated border to the upper portion.
The swept portion of the base is embellished to one side with contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a demi-horse bridled.
The base is supported by three impressive cast and applied leaf decorated feet, featuring further scrolling leaf designs emanating across the triform base.
Such large and impressive examples from this period are rare to the market and becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

condition
condition
This antique 4 arm, large silver candelabrum is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The cast, applied and embossed decoration is very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the base and sleeve of the central boss, in addition to the part hallmarks to each detachable component are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of silver centrepieces.
