Description
A lovely Arts and Crafts sterling silver & wood mazer bowl with excellent Celtic casting and engraving on an otherwise plain round bowl mounted on a cylindrical oak base. It was made by David and Maurice Davis of Birmingham, at Livery Street, in 1929. The assay mark is for Sheffield. A mazer is a bowl without handles used for drinking in medieval times, from around 13th to 16th century and as early as 1280.
