Description
The watch has a Swiss 17-jewel Valjoux 77 hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Rodana Sa. The Rodana name was registered in 1941.
The watch measures 37mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is chromium plated while the screw-on case back is stainless steel. There is some wear and marking commensurate with its age. The case back states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.
The lens is in good condition.
The dial is signed Rodana Chronograph. It is in its original finish with original hands and two subsidiary dials, one for constant seconds and the other to record up to 30 minutes. This dial has large markers at three, six and nine minutes. These were aimed at the business man who made international telephone calls which were very expensive at the time. The calls were rounded to chargeable chunks of three minutes and so watchmaking companies came up with this scale to help people control their talking duration.
The dial has darkened evenly with age, still easy to read the time.
A later leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.
