UK Postage Only For This Item
Gents 1950s Cyma chronograph / wrist watch.
The watch has a good quality 17-jewel calibre 400L Cyma movement, based on a Valjoux 22, which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Cyma name.
The watch measures 36mm diameter excluding the crown, buttons and winder. The case has a stainless steel bezel and case back, and an alloy centre, a combination often seen in the later 1940s. The case is in good condition, just general light surface marking but nothing serious at all. The winding crown may be a replacement, the buttons are probably the originals.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands and chronograph hand with red pointer end. There are two subsidiary dials, one for constant seconds and the other to record up to 30 minutes. This recording dial has three large markers at three, six and nine minutes. These were aimed at the businessman who made international telephone calls which were very expensive at the time. The calls were rounded to chargeable chunks of three minutes and so watchmaking companies came up with this scale to help people control their talking duration.
A later leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.
