Description
An unusually large Bow blanc-de-chine porcelain octagonal plate with Chinese type applied moulded prunus blossom sprigs. Unmarked, c.1750-1755.
measurements
It measures 28.5cm (11 1/4") wide (side to side, 30.3cm (11 7/8") across the diagonal) and 2.5cm (1") high.
declaration
The Fancy Fox has clarified that the Large 11 1/4" Bow White Porcelain Octagonal Plate Prunus Decoration c.1750 (LA497375) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1750
condition
In excellent condition: one tiny chip to a corner on the reverse. No other damage, repair or restoration but a couple of firing faults to note: what may appear as a small chip on the front rim is actually just an unglazed firing flaw. There is a larger firing fault at the rim also in the form of a firing crack and some bubbling in the glaze (all closely photographed). Minimal handling / surface wear.
