Large Oval Tortoiseshell & Silver Dressing Table Trinket Box - William Comyns London 1906

Overall, this lightly revitalised trinket box is in good condition. As mentioned, the lid remains a little matt, but with the fine silver work to the lid, we held the view this was preferable to a full refinishing which always has the potential to damage inlaid work. The silverwork is relatively good reflecting its age, just a few small dinks. The legs are solid and intact, as is the base of the piece. There are some very small abrasions to the rim of the shell lid and one of the fine pins is absent. In summary, this is a good solid trinket box that retains the qualities of a William Comyns gem, with all the potential to offer another hundred years of reliable service.
