Large Victorian Burr Walnut Inlaid Jewellery Box

A good quality Victorian burr walnut jewellery box, the domed top and front inlaid with wide marquetry lines, the top with an unusual tunbridge ware central cartouche, the front with similar keyhole escutcheon. The box opens to reveal the original mahogany fitted interior, re-lined in a plush deep red velvet. The lift-out tray reveals a further storage area. To the right of the box a brass pin releases the spring-loaded side drawer also re-lined. With working lock & key. c.1880 30.5cm x 23cm x 17.5cm high.
