Description
SALE - WAS £220 NOW £160 A mid-17th century Kirman (South East Persia) blue and white porcelain dish. The dish has a thick glaze and obvious Chinese influence with Kraak style panels and is decorated with a central flower head surrounded by 8 leaves (two in each direction). Upon very close inspection, the dish displays small scratches to the surface above and a very small match head sized rim fritting chip to the outside edge (please see images) but this really does not detract from the overall look or original condition which is very good indeed. Clearly seen also are the three stilt marks (with some kiln grit) to the underside where the dish stood in the kiln to be fired and then once ready, was taken off of these three supports leaving prominent, distinctive marks in the glaze. The dish is also decorated to the underside with stylized tendrils and is signed in underglaze blue to the underside centre. The dish has been acquired by Lambert & Co. directly from David Battie, BBC Antiques Roadshow's Oriental expert for around 40 years and he lays claim as the longest serving cast member. This dish has been personally verified by this world renowned expert. The dish measures 15cm diameter, is around 3cm high and will be sent free of any carriage charges to any address in the UK. We are happy to provide a competitive quote for Europe or the USA. Please do feel free to ask any questions or email for any further information required
