This is a pair of antique side chairs. An English, walnut buckle back seat, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1840. Excellent colour and taste to this inviting pair of chairs, displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order. Quality walnut frames present fine grain interest. Rich caramel hues to the frame and cushion in aesthetic harmony. Striking buckle backs with a wide, gracefully arched crest rail. Buckle back splat with twist motif to the shaped bracket. Accentuated to the chamfered rail with lobed detail and leaf cappings. Traditionally stuffed cushion at a comfortable height of 46cm (18''). Quality brushed velvet upholstery in good, clean condition. Accentuated with champagne-coloured brocade trim. Appealing shaped lower apron with relief carved knee decor.
