Description
These are a beautiful pair of antique Thomas Webb “Filamentosa” glass Vases with Jules Barbe Enamel Decoration C1880.
These scarce vases have been skilfully hand blown in clear glass with draped filaments of purple and white swags accented with strings of glass beads and finished with a floral enamelled pattern by Jules Barbe.
Jules Barbe (b. 1847) was a French master enameler and gilder who worked for the Dennis Glass Works of Thomas Webb and Sons in Amblecote from 1879, when he came to England, until 1901, when he started as an independent glass decorator in Stourbridge.

Both vases are in excellent undamaged condition but there are a couple of insignificant losses to the enamel work as pictured and some gilt wear to rims.
