Pocket Watch 1933 Swiss Limit 15 Jewel 10ct Gold Filled Case 16 Size Fwo

Vintage original Swiss 'Limit' high grade 15 jewel Gentleman's pocket watch with beautiful ivory porcelain dial in a highly polished 10 carat (stamped) gold filled Dennison case. C ~1933. Full working order and has been fully checked and serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker, guaranteed to be 100% authentic - a timepiece to grace any collection. Excellent timekeeper with plenty of room on the regulator (which is sat correctly in the central position) for any further fine tuning. Dial;- Impressive and distinctive high gloss ivory double sunk porcelain dial (with slightly textured centre) in mint condition - absolutely no hairlines, nibbles or fading. Signed clearly in black very fancy script; Limit and signed in black arched script to base of dial; Swiss Made. Heavily scrolled black Arabic numbers (note the lovely little arrow tip to number 4) with black minute markers, bolder black five minute markers and diamond shaped 15 minute markers to chapter ring. Recessed sub dial with black Arabic numbers and black seconds chapters. Finely cut, original gold steel spade and whip hands and original gold steel arrow tip seconds hand all in lovely straight, unmarked order. Slightly domed crystal in amazing clear, bright condition with just two or 3 extremely light and fine little surface scratches which are so tiny not showing up in the photographs (but mentioning for accuracy). Case;- The highly polished (5cm diameter / 7cm from top of bow to base), 10 carat (stamped) gold filled case is heavy (has a pleasing solid feel in the hand and total watch weight is heavy 100 grams exactly), robust and in super condition - absolutely no wear or indentations and just a few overall light and fine little surface scratches commensurate with age in her 91 years service. All covers (both inside and out) still retain their original, high gloss mirror finish. The front bezel is hinged at the 6 position (they are more commonly a snap fit), opens up correctly to exactly 90 degrees, closing tightly with a very reassuring click. Both the back cover and dust cover are also hinged at the 6 position, open correctly to exactly 90 degrees, again closing very tightly. Clearly stamped to the inside of the back cover in very fancy arched script; Moon Trade Mark A.L.D Dennison Watch Case Co. Ltd (Aaron Lufkin Dennison one of the founding Fathers of the American Waltham Watch Co., who moved from the USA to England to establish the Dennison factory - they made watch cases for all the leading manufacturers including Rolex and Omega) and is numbered; 188499. This number is correctly, partially repeated to the inside back case cuvette and inside of the bezel lip; 8499. Also carries four old service marks - two look to be dated; 62 (1962) and 63 (1963). The inside of the dust cover is stamped; English Make Guaranteed To Be Made Of Two Plates Of 10CT Gold With Plate Of Composition Between And To Wear 20 Years. Numbered; 188499 33 O - the 33 is the Dennison date numbering system; 1933 and the O is the first letter of the Goldsmith at the Dennison factory who pinned the case joints - unfortunately on this occasion I have been unable to identify him. Movement;- The stem wound and set high grade Swiss 15 ruby jewelled, 3/4 plate lever movement is in superb bright and clean order and has just been fully checked and serviced by my long standing watch repairer. Carries the most wonderful, subtle geometric engine turning to the top plates - the detail of which remains as crisp and clear today as the day they were made. Has a compensated balance with brass balance screws and two brass meantime screws (for precision timing), bright blued steel overcoil balance spring which is true, 'in the round' and 'breathing' well, large ruby jewels in sunken chaton settings, ruby end stone and pallet jewels, highly polished (mirror finish) mainspring and ratchet barrel covers and original steel case screws. Clearly stamped on the top plates in arched bold black script; Limit 15 Jewels Swiss Made. Balance action is tremendous in all positions with a sure, strong positive action - runs like a train. Winds extremely smoothly and fully (do not be afraid to fully wind, over-winding is the greatest horological myth!) Hand set operates smoothly and correctly. Lovely large un-worn gold filled 'onion' crown. Good original firm un-worn Dennison safety bow which is correctly stamped to one side; Dq - Dennison Quality.
