Pocket Watch Swiss Imado 17 Jewel 12ct Gold Plated 1970s Vintage Full Hunter FWO

Vintage Gentleman's original 'Imado', high grade Swiss 17 jewel pocket watch with beautiful ivory dial in a highly ornate 12 carat (professionally tested) gold plated full hunter case. C ~1970's. Looks to have been much loved and very well cared for - her condition certainly reflects this. Full working order and is an excellent timekeeper (within +2/-2 minute per 24 hours) with plenty of room on the regulator (which is sat correctly in the central position) for any further fine tuning. Fully checked and serviced by my highly experienced watchmaker and is guaranteed to be 100% authentic - a timepiece to grace any collection! Dial:- Impressive and distinctive, high gloss 'snowflake' white dial in mint condition - absolutely no hairlines, marks or nibbles. Signed clearly in bold, black script; Imado 17 Jewels Incabloc with; Swiss Made in arched black script below the sub dial. Bold black Roman numerals with black minute markers and bolder 5 minute markers forming the chapter ring. Large sub dial with black Arabic numbers and black seconds chapters. Finely cut original black steel Louis X1V hands and original black steel arrow tip seconds hand all in lovely straight, unmarked order. Original hunter crystal in superb clear, bright condition. Case:- The highly ornate (4.4cm diameter / 6cm from top of bow to base), 12 carat (professionally tested) gold plated full hunter case is heavy (has a pleasing solid feel in the hand and total watch weight is 55.1 grams), robust and in outstanding condition - absolutely no wear or indentations and few very light and fine little (absolutely micro) overall surface scratches commensurate with age and use in her 50+ years service. All covers (both inside and out) still retain their original, high gloss, mirror finish. Beautifully decorated to the front cover and back covers with an attractive engine turned design - the detail of which is as crisp and clear today and the day it was made. The front cover carries a fancy shield shaped cartouche to centre which is engraved with tiny initials; Gj - they are so elaborate look to be part of the decoration. To back cover is the traditional bullseye centre. Both covers have an attractive engine turned 'fish scale' adornment to the inside. The front cover is hinged at the nine position, opens correctly to exactly 90 degrees when the winder is depressed, closing tightly with a very reassuring click (always depress the winder when closing to save wear to the gold and also the catch) and the large hinge is true and firm with absolutely no play. The back cover snaps on and off correctly, again closing with a very reassuring click. Movement:- The stem wound and set Swiss 17 ruby jewelled, 3/4 steel plate lever movement is in superb bright and clean order and as mentioned above has just been fully checked and serviced. Carries the most wonderful, slightly frosted geometric engine turning to the top plates which again remains as crisp and clear today as the day they were made. Clearly stamped on the top plates; Swiss 17 Jewels and stamped to the bottom plate (below the balance assembly); Ut (Unitas) and numbered; 6375. Balance action is absolutely tremendous in all positions (could not be any better) and is keeping excellent time with a sure, strong positive action. Runs like a train! Winds extremely smoothly and fully (do not be afraid to fully wind, over-winding is the greatest horological myth!) Hand set operates smoothly and correctly - the pull up/push down action is very firm and true. Lovely large un-worn gold plated 'onion' crown. Good original firm totally un-worn gold plated horseshoe shaped bow. Appraisal:- A very handsome and highly impressive Gentleman's Vintage Swiss full hunter timepiece which as mentioned above was much loved and very well cared for by the original owner (looks to have had very little use, perhaps only high days and holidays) - she will make a perfect gift and a heirloom to be enjoyed by your future generations!
