Description
This is a beautiful Victorian 1891 antique sterling silver folding quill knife or sharpener -the slender blade designed for cutting quill pen nibs to shape. The sterling silver scales are decorated with scrolling foliage and flowers, hallmarked on both sides. The carbon steel blade stamped J.Nowill & Sons, the * over D, and on the reverse the twin Crossed Keys marks.
Hallmarks: Sheffield, Silver fineness 925, Maker John Nowill & Sons
