Small Antique George III Period Oak Chest of Drawers C1780
A rather desirable little George III period English oak chest of drawers C.1790 found in Yorkshire on one of our buying trips. It's a delightful chest with cross banding to the top, 2 small and 3 graduated cock beaded drawers raised on attractive bracket feet.
It sits in a wonderfully aged “Country House” condition and would be perfect for a little spot in a period or modern property. We have aging and the odd historic repair to the piece but nothing new - the odd chip and split to the cross beading, the top is age marked nothing new and we would say its imperfections are its charm... The drawers are running fine with age splits to the inside bases but not affecting its purpose, please note the key with its tassel came with the piece and is purely for aesthetic purposes - it doesn’t work. The handles seem original and bedded in and we have a 3 plank pine back.
The chest is ready to place after being carefully cleaned in our workshop. Expect a 200 year old chest with charm not a new one.
An utterly charming English period oak chest.
