Victorian Inlaid Walnut Sewing / Jewellery Box

A good quality Victorian burr walnut sewing / jewellery box, the top and front inlaid with geometric parquetry bandings, the canted corners further inlaid. To the top is a shield shaped vacant cartouche with matching keyhole escutcheon to the front. The box opens to reveal the original fitted interior lined in blue silk velvet in good condition. Slight wear around the retaining clip in the lid and a couple of dividers missing. With working lock & tassled key. c.1880 28cm x 20cm x 14cm high.
