A good quality rosewood dressing / jewellery box by Mechi, 4 Leadenhall Street, London. The top with central vacant brass cartouche, the front with matching keyhole escutcheon.
The box opens to reveal the original fully fitted interior with a selection of silver plated jars, boxes & inkwells to the lift-out tray. To the rear there are two bottles and a large jar.
To the front of the box a brass pin releases the lower drawer which retains it's original lining for jewellery.
The rouched green velvet panel in the lid pulls forward to reveal the original fitted reversible mirror. (The mirror is removed by an unusual spring mechanism, it slides to the left so that the right side falls forward.) Makers label to the document pouch.
