Description
This Victorian Naval dockyard chest was made in the last quarter of the 19th century. Made in 2 parts so this was easily transported to and around the Dockyards or in ships quarters. It is made of teak, a timber that is durable and resistant to sea water, most important for their use. Each drawer has the inset brass handles, that were fitted to cause little obstruction when they were to be put into packing crates. The Victorian Naval dockyard chest has the original turned peg feet.
This style of chest used to be found in homes in or around Plymouth and Portsmouth after they were disposed of in the 1920’s by the Royal Navy, now they are difficult to find in good condition.
Just imagine the life this has had and now is ready to be a fantastic asset in your home.
On occasions customers have been disappointed to miss an item as they e-mailed their enquiry instead of phoning, I would recommend that if you wish to get the piece, please call rather than e-mail. We are very friendly and easy to deal with.
This Victorian Naval dockyard chest is a green product and has not affected the environment we live in.
