Description
This Georgian style mahogany twin pillar dining table was made circa 1920. The cabinetmaker used fine quality redundant Georgian timber from antique tables. Having the opportunity to use the quality resource was such a boon, as the timber had depth of colour and interesting grain. Even in 1920 the timber on offer was inferior to what the 19th century cabinetmakers had to hand, the best trees had been felled and the people of the time did not see the need to replant as the trees took 200 plus years to grow.
This lovely table has the quadruple legged base with the gun barrel column, that are fitted with brass square toed castors.
The solid mahogany top has rounded ends and has 2 leaves to extend to make a good 10-seat table.
You can use this table closed without the extra leaves or use a combination of 1 or 2 to suit your dining requirements. For generations his tale has served families and been the centre of many celebrations, imagine how much pleasure you will have as you also entertain your family and friends at this dining table.
On occasions customers have been disappointed to miss an item as they e-mailed their enquiry instead of phoning, I would recommend that if you wish to get the piece, please call rather than e-mail. We are very friendly and easy to deal with.
