British Marine Victorian Oil Painting Taranaki Iron Passenger Cargo Sailing Masted Ship on High Seas Approaching Port Chambers.
Impress your clients & guests, make an art statement with this exceptional maritime sailing masterpiece to display on your office wall space or home interior. Signed at the bottom by the marine British artist J Edmunds. Oil on canvas set in a fine traditional gilt frame, with hanging thread on the back ready for immediate wall display.
Title “Taranaki sailing on high seas approaching Port Chambers” by J Edmunds dated 1891”. In our opinion this is a very fine nautical work.
Your focus is drawn to the imposing majestic iron hull ship Taranaki, in full sail side on with rigging & heading towards the right, the white longboat towards the centre obscured by a sail, on the right flank a small sailing boat in the distance by the New Zealand Port Chambers shore, to the far left are 2 other smaller sailing ships in the distance. Above mainly dark grey storm skies with small spots of blue shining through, on the bow you can see the name of the ship shown. Sailing on rather choppy rough seas.
