Description
Victorian 1888 snakewood and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane. The pommel is fully hallmarked for the London assay date for 1888 and the makers mark for James Adams, Barr Street, Birmingham. Lovely tagua nut pommel grown on the elephant plant and native to South America, sitting in a trumpet shaped silver collar with nice grain pattern and good colour. Mounted above the shaft which is snakewood. This is a rare to find wood and is strong enough to support a good weight. If you can find new snakewood cane today they are retailed for as much as £1000 with a silver top Quite dark in colour the markings in the wood show better in natural light. This is a very dense wood, heavy and very strong. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
