Alongside the Pendant, antique necklaces have long been a symbol of wealth and status. By the Middle Ages the interlinking chain which we associate with necklaces now was created which soon were fashioned from gold and silver often to hold beautifully crafted pendants for both Men and Women.
By the 18th Century makers began retailing necklaces as a set which would match a pair of earrings and by the 19th Century few women would be seen out in public without a necklace on. If one chose not to wear a pendant, then other forms of necklace were also available including a string of Pearls or beautifully crafted Chokers. Even during the 20th Century and through to today the Necklace has remained a firm favourite among people.
With such rich heritage behind them there is little wonder why antique and vintage necklaces have remained so popular.
