17th Century Oak Wainscot Chair

This is a good 17th Century antique oak Wainscot chair of superb light colour. In very nice original condition having the original drop over seat, these seats were fitted over the front leg prior to the arm being added. All parts are original apart from an inch added at the bottom of each leg. The crest is carved with bold scroll decoration and the panel with interwoven design typical of the West Country. The seat rails carved with scrolling foliage. It is worth noting the extraordinary weight of the well shaped arms using much thicker section than is the norm. A lovely heavy chair in very solid condition.
