Fabulous 17th century olive wood oyster veneer cabinet on a later adapted stand.
The doors with wonderful oyster veneers and crossbandings including to the interior as well as the exterior, open to reveal an arrangement of fitted drawers and cupboard (including a hidden secret drawer), some still retaining their original blue lining paper and all with matching oyster veneers and crossbanding with a long drawer to the base.
The stand we think has been adapted later but is well matched to the cabinet.
With wear and tear commensurate with age and use and some historic repairs and restorations as one would expect with a piece of such immense age, overall this fine quality cabinet is in good sound condition with a wonderful colour and patina and is quite a rare survivor of its type.
