Description
18th Century (c.1770) Meissen dot (Academic) period cabinet plate, with a gilded, lobed lip, puce scaled border, relief-moulded rim and shoulder, 4 gilded cartouches of flower sprays, surrounding a finely painted scene of a harbour or estuary in the manner of Christian Friedrich Herold. Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords with dot between hilts mark to base, also gilder’s ‘N’ bark to the inside of the base rim. This is one of two similar plates we are listing.
