This is an unusual item an original Birmingham fire mark. Originally used to show if a property was under a particular insurer or cover for help with fires. Many houses being indistinguishable in those days these marks could mean the difference between a hard time and devastation. It has been put on a backing board for support as this is a delicate piece of history. The board size used to support this piece is 12inches wide by 10.5inch high.
