This is a large 18th century Barrel Backed oak settle, beautifully aged and full of character, with rich patina to the wood.
In some areas the original iron forged rose head nails are still present adding to its rustic charm
This bench also has a lift up seat lid for extra storage.
Some history on this piece.
It would have originally had a high back, however it was reduced down to its current height when it was used as a pew in a chapel in the Lake District. It was later taken from the chapel from a private individual over 50 years ago. It then Went on to have a life in Cheshire for many years.
This settle is new to the market and recently having a sympathetic restoration in keeping with its age and history. It’s ready for its new home.
