A South Staffordshire, probably Bilston, enamel patch box, circa 1780, inscribed “Give or lend / I ask no more / One sweet Kiss / and smile encore”. Blue enamel base and gilt (worn) metal mounts. Measurements: Length: 4cm (1.6in) Height: 2.7cm (1.1in) Depth: 3.4cm (1,3in) Condition: General: Average Exterior: 2 chips to front of base. Lid: Light wear to inscription. Fine, short hairlines around edge of lid by mount. Metal mounts good (gilding worn away). Interior: Good. Mirror intact, light corrosion around edge. White enamel undamaged.
