Description
The Spirit of St. Louis By Charles A. Lindbergh Published by Charles Scribner's & Sons, New York. First Edition, First Printing Signed & Inscribed by Charles A. Lindbergh Together With: B. F.'s Daughter By. John P. Marquand Published by Little, Brown & Company, Boston 1946. First Edition, First Printing & Inscribed by the Author. The Spirit of St. Louis has a pre-publication inscription on title page by Charles Lindbergh to Adelaide Hooker Marquand [second wife of the suthor John P. Marquand & descendant of Thomas Hooker]. Included is B.F.'s Daughter by John Marquand & inscribed by the author to front endpaper with a postcard from 1963 addressed to Mrs J. P. Marquand & an Italian typewritten letter dated 1924 signed by John Marquand. Both books are hardbacks with the original dust jackets. An interesting collection with Lindbergh and Marquand having ties to the American First Committee [pro German movement in America during WW2]. The Spirit of St louis comes direct from a female employee who worked for Adelaide Marquand during the early 1960s and this copy has never been offered for sale. During her time of employment, Adelaide Marquand died. Shortly afterwards the employee was given permission by the family to chose a book as a remembrance of Adelaide Marquand & the Lindbergh was chosen.
