19th Century Dutch Copper & Brass Ash Bucket 'Doofpot' Peat Castellated Seam

A good example of a early 19th Century small Dutch antique copper & brass ash bucket with a brass lid, Castellated seam to either side, well turned brass feet and fixed handles riveted to the body, The top lip is reenforced with an inner steel ring, for strength. Known as a 'Doofpot' and used to store embers. These are sometimes incorrectly referred to as peat or coal buckets. In good condition (general small dints /dings consistent with its genuine age and use. Feet fine and tight to body. Please see photos as they form part of the description. Recently professionally polished Heigh Approx. 17.25 inches-44cm to top of finial.12.5 inches-32cm to top of inner lip. Approx. Diameter at widest 12 inches-30.5cm.
